I’m sure you’ve all seen infomercials on the latest weight loss supplement that promises huge amounts of weight loss in a short amount of time.
I won’t say specific ones because I’m not trying to get sued here, but they always claim to be from some special rare fruit, veggie, herb or a root of some kind.

I’m sure you’ve heard that muscle weighs more than fat. This explains why someone with more muscle mass usually will weigh more than someone with a similar build but with less muscle.
I guess it’s a pet peeve of mine when people say that muscle weighs more than fat. This is simply false. One doesn’t weigh more than the other.
A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle! So what’s the truth?
The truth is that muscle is MORE DENSE than fat!
This means that a handful of muscle weighs more than a handful of fat.
I know a lot of people (mainly women) that are scared of putting on muscle! If you’re scared of looking too bulky, I highly suggest you read this post.
Muscle is what gives your body its shape! For most people, having some muscle on your body (male or female) is aesthetically pleasing. It also makes your body burn more calories throughout the day, thus speeding up your metabolism.
This is another reason to not pay so much attention to the scale number, it can fluctuate a lot, especially in the beginning as your body builds muscle.
Now that you’re completely clear on this topic, go out and build you some muscle!
It’s very important to know how many calories your body needs so that you can lose weight more effectively. If you don’t know this information, you could very well be spinning your wheels when it comes to weight loss.
It doesn’t really matter how much you exercise if you’re eating too much!

Keep in mind, that the calories you eat should come from clean foods! Not all calories are created equal. Invest in nutrient-dense food and you’ll be good to go.
While counting calories is very accurate, it’s pretty annoying and tedious. It’s really impractical for the normal person. Just try to gauge your weight week-to-week and go by that. If you’re not losing weight, then cut back on the amount of food you’re eating.
Practice portion control if you have to. At any rate, knowing your caloric needs already puts you in the right direction and is a critical part to your success!
Knee pain can make losing weight a slow process if it’s bad enough. Whether it’s chronic or acute pain, most people have difficulty consistently doing cardio because of their knees flaring up.
